A new season

Fall is in the air and Im ready for the weather to cool down.  Warm days and cool nights, flip flops, sweat shirts...all great combinations.  My friends Max and Jake and I went surfing the other day. We did an early session (leave at 6am, back by noon). The waves were head high and super fun. A September day at the beach with a hurricane lingering off the coast makes for a great day in the water with two good friends. I look forward to a few more days in the water before it gets too cold.

My Inspiration

Well here is my inspiration folks.  The name of the blog comes from my oldest daughter Ava. She's in this phase right now were she calls people "insert name"- head.  For example: brownie-head, shoe head, chair-head..you get the idea. Now anyone with kids knows hows this goes.  Kid calls Daddy chicken head, Daddy comes back with, "oh yeah well your a marshmallow head. Kid says, no your a marshmellow head and a chair head. Mommy finds out that Kid is calling other kids "something"-heads. Mommy remembers Daddy encouraged bad behavior. Mommy calls Daddy a sh-t-head.

You see, fathers who live with all girls are the luckiest and the most exhausted men on the planet. We are showered with love one day and the next everything is our fault. We are surrounded with beauty, tenderness, and loads of estrogen.  One minute everything is magical and pretty and the next is an emotional meltdown. But I wouldn't change it for anything.

I grew up in a house dominated by boys. Being out numbered by girls is something new and different.  Im a foreigner in a strange country. A fish out of water.  A visitor to a new land. These are my tales..... the tales of a chicken-head and his three girls.

Our Trip to Maine

This summer we took the whole family on a short plane ride to Maine to visit our great friends Ruth and Justin (below). We love Maine and could live their all summer long...(winter could be rough).

Ruth and Justin just moved to Bangor Maine this summer. Justin is finishing his dental residency in Bangor and Ruth (in this picture) is 9 months pregnant. Yesterday they had a beautiful baby girl. Congrats u guys! Can't wait to meet her.

We first went to Acadia Park and visited Jordan Pond. It's a restaurant on a lake right in the middl of the start park. Awesome views and great food. Above is Ava and I doing some rock hopping before lunch.

Ruth and Ava munch on the famous "pop-overs" at Jordan Pond.

These are my other two girls: Jill, my lovely wife and Logan, the newest addition.
